Zorro

I went through a bit of a ’50s kick this past semester. A lot of my projects were inspired by the decade’s aesthetic. During this time I was also watching a lot of Zorro (the Disney one). So good. Here’s a kind of tribute I guess. A little more literal. 

Build a Better Future

There was this Sustainability Symposium at my school last semester and the illustration classes were to create artwork for it. I chose to create an image about building materials and housing. My piece was actually chosen to be showcased at the Symposium, so that’s pretty cool.

Percy Jackson

For my cartooning and caricature class. We had to cast actors as the three main characters from Percy Jackson and caricature them. Not sure how successful I was, this project was rather challenging for me. I tried.

Had to make a little 5 panel comic for class, so I drew a little story about a beekeeper and his daughter.

Around the same time I also had to make a couple of books for my bookmaking class and I decided to make a little story about the girl. :)

Monster Bingo

Here's some stuff I did for my Cartooning and Caricature class. Our first project was to create a monster! (Although ultimately mine ended up looking more like an alien.) For the final presentation we had to make 5 color comps in marker and then try our best to imitate the style of Carter Goodrich and UPA. I included some a few of the earlier exploration sketches as well. The bingo part was we picked items and animals from a list and mashed them together to create our monsters.

This is my face as of right now. I tried to approach digital painting as if I was working traditionally. It actually made it a bit easier.

EDIT: I made some changes based on the critique I got on my portrait.

Animal and Wildlife

This is what I presented for my final in my animal and wildlife class. All drawings (with the except of the bottom two motion studies) are from life, from the various field trips the class took over the semester. The motion studies are from video.
